al Fiume - Italian for 'at the river' - has all the ingredients for a great restaurant: a beautiful setting on a shady wooden deck on the banks of the Hennops River and a restaurateur with a passion for food, as well as the experience to ensure outstanding levels of service.

al Fiume serves food that lives up to our definition of quality: the season's best, cooked with skill and passion and presented with a minimum of fuss.

The cellar at al Fiume is stocked with a diverse choice of Italian and South African wines. The selection includes everyday drinking wines and wines for special occasions; wines from some of South Africa's best-known estates and unusual wines from smaller estates.

al Fiume is a restaurant for all seasons: long, lazy summer days on the wooden deck; bright spring days when the first signs of green are starting to appear on the trees overhanging the river; bracing winter days when you might want to work off your meal with a brisk walk over the bridge and cozy autumn days when you can sit snugly in the restaurant and watch the falling leaves floating down the river.

Weddings

You want your wedding day to be special and at River Place, we'll do everything we can to help you create the most special memories.

No doubt, you'll want to take your time about getting ready. Exclusive stone cottages on the estate will give your wedding party all the privacy and time then need to look their best. We can also arrange for hair stylists and make-up artists to come to the venue.

The bridal couple have the option and added convenience of spending their wedding night in one of the cottages and to enjoy a heavenly breakfast/brunch the next morning before going on their way.

When it comes to the arrangements and details, once again, the keynote is flexibility. You might want to exchange your vows in one of our stone-clad chapels with stunning views, on the lawns or on the wooden deck next to the river.

You might choose to hold the reception at al Fiume restaurant on the banks of the river… in the stone conference centre or in a marquee specially erected on one of the lawns, all of which can be specially dressed to create the mood and ambience you want.

Our Mountain View Conference Centre has been built from local stone in a farmhouse style to create generous spaces, take full advantage of the indigenous gardens and magnificent views and offer you a conference experience with a difference. The centre comprises a large room with cinema-style seating for 180 delegates. This opens out onto a broad veranda with built-in bar area - the ideal place to enjoy tea, coffee and delicious snacks or cocktails. Adjacent is a business centre complete with telephones, fax, photostat machines and e-mail/internet services.
Our River View Venue offers 270° views of the river and surrounding hills and accommodates up to 25 delegates class-room style or 60 cinema-style.
For a bush-type conference Experience River Place offers Several Bush Venues for the more adventurous corporate types set in a beautiful ravine on the property.
Added convenience of Accommodation for conference organisers / facilitators in our 19 exclusive stone-clad cottages.
Unique outdoor Break-away Venues, including a 50-seater rock amphitheatre completes the picture.
